This is a specialised workshop led by Grace Lee-Khoo, founder of Access Path Productions. Drawing from her extensive training with the UK’s Graeae Theatre Company, Lee-Khoo equips educators with practical tools to dismantle physical and social barriers in arts education.

The training reframes disability awareness by shifting the focus from passive inclusion to active participation. Crucially, it introduces the aesthetics of access—the philosophy of embedding creative tools like audio description and multi-sensory storytelling directly into drama exercises, transforming accessibility from an administrative afterthought into a rich, creative asset for all students.

Theatre-making can be a highly resource-intensive undertaking, requiring substantial quantities of materials for the creation of scenery, props and costumes for individual productions. Launched in the UK in 2020, Theatre Green Book is an industry-wide initiative that seeks to promote more sustainable theatre-making practices in response to the climate crisis. Freely accessible to performing arts practitioners across all disciplines and scales of production, Theatre Green Book provides a comprehensive framework for sustainable planning, best practice guidance, measurement tools and shared industry standards. Further regional iterations of Theatre Green Book have since been launched, with a Singaporean iteration launched in 2026.

This interactive session will explore how the School of Dance and Theatre at LASALLE College of the Arts has significantly enhanced its sustainable theatre-making practices through its engagement with Theatre Green Book since 2025.

A central component of Theatre Green Book is its sustainability calculator, which enables production teams to measure and benchmark the environmental sustainability of their productions. Drawing upon examples from previous theatrical productions, the session will demonstrate how the calculator has been applied in practice and how its findings can inform more sustainable approaches to theatre-making.

The session will conclude with a live, guided demonstration of the sustainability calculator, providing participants with practical insights into its application and the potential for integrating Theatre Green Book principles into their own production practices.
