The following quotes may be used in a variety of ways with your drama group to develop self-awareness in children.
Suggested Classroom Routine:
One idea is for a thought to be posted, read and discussed at the beginning of each session. Ask them to notice these thoughts in action throughout the week, you might want to leave the thought in a prominent place like the drama bulletin board or in the classroom throughout the week as a reminder.
In the next session, ask them what they learned or how the thought applied to their lives or activities during the week they’ve just had. Have the children give written or oral examples or have them draw a picture to illustrate their ideas.
Build the habit of discussing a thought in the first 10 minutes of classtime. It’s a good way to put active listening central to your classroom and understand what makes your students tick at the same time!
