Ahmad Musta’ain Bin Khamis
Ahmad Musta’ain Bin Khamis is the Vice-President of SDEA. He is a full-time teacher in Cedar Girls’ Secondary School. He graduated with BA(Edn) Honours from Nanyang Technological University/National Institute of Education, where he majored in English Language and Drama. His involvement in theatre started from his undergraduate days where he performed in L’Amfiparnaso, an opera-Commedia piece with Michael Corbidge. He later went on to win Theatreworks’ 24 Hour Playwriting Competition for his play, Serunding, that went on two tours in 2010 and 2011.
He has had been involved with SDEA in three successful applied theatre projects; AIMY (With Indonesian Domestic Workers and Migrants for SDEA’s Theatre Arts Conference 2011), Just Stressed Lah (A Teacher-Student collaboration on ‘stress’ for SDEA’s Celebrate Drama Festival 2012. It was also restaged for the NIE Literature Symposium in 2013), and most recently, Project OTL (With Madrasah Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiah for SDEA’s Theatre Arts Conference 2013). He is also in the Programming Committee for Celebrate Drama Festival 2014 and co-chair in the SDEA Theatre Arts Conference 2017. He has been an SDEA committee member since 2013 and served as an Executive Committee since 2015.
