Do nominees have to prepare anything for the election?
All nominees are required to prepare a 1-2 minute speech addressing the membership to be delivered prior to the commencement of the voting process.
I have put my name forward for multiple roles. How will this be decided?
Each role will be voted on individually, starting with the President and followed by the Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and the Committee Members. If you are elected in to any of the roles, you will be removed from the elections for subsequent roles.
Do I need to be physically present at the AGM if I am a nominee?

If you Missed The Nomination Deadline
I have yet to confirm my nomination. Can I submit a nomination form even if the deadline has passed (9th August 2019)?
Nomination forms submitted after the deadline for open nominations (9th August 2019) may or may not be considered for election. If you would like to download a form to submit, click here and check out the nomination process here.
If I don’t have 2 backing members can I still submit my nomination?
No, all nominations require two backing members to support the nomination.
Can I nominate myself at the AGM this Saturday?
You may put your name forward for nomination at the AGM. However, you will need to fulfil the following criteria:
1. You are able to secure 2 backing SDEA members who are present at the AGM.
2. The membership must allow your nomination to stand. This will be decided before voting takes place.
For Voting Members
How will the voting process be conducted?
The voting process will be conducted digitally through an online voting system accessed through a smart phone or laptop. If you do not have access to either of these devices, the secretariat has prepared laptops that will act as voting stations for you to cast your votes.
If a position is uncontested is it a walkover?
No it is not. Nominees in uncontested positions will need to pass a vote of confidence by the membership.
What happens if a position is vacant after the election process is over?
The key roles of President, Secretary, and Treasurer are required to be filled in accordance with the Registrar of Societies. The membership will have to decide the course of action if any of these roles remain vacant at the end of the voting process.
Do I need to be physically present at the AGM to vote?
Yes, voting members are required to be at Centre 42. Voting via proxy is strictly prohibited under any circumstance.
